Employment Opportunities

Scots English College is always looking for dedicated and enthusiastic teachers.

What do we look for?

The minimum:

  1. A degree in any subject although postgraduate qualifications in TESOL/ Linguistics are highly regarded.
  2. A TESOL qualification: Your TESOL qualification must have been achieved from a program of study with the following characteristics:

           a. no less than 100 contact hours, or the equivalent in Distance Education programs, with a content focus on English language, language learning and TESOL teaching

           b. a practical component including at least six hours practice teaching in TESOL to actual students (not to classmates), supervised and assessed by a teacher who is qualified as per these requirements

            c. is a recognised qualification delivered by an education provider registered with government as being eligible to deliver nationally recognised qualifications.

We sometimes get resumes from applicants who have completed an online TESOL course that has no supervised practical teaching component. Such qualifications do not qualify you to teach in the Australian ELICOS industry.
