Upper-Intermediate level students are probably beginning to handle the main structures of the language with some confidence.  By the end of this level, students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of a wide range of vocabulary and use appropriate communicative strategies in a variety of social cases. Students will participate in supporting activities such as debates, presentations, and role-plays to improve their ability to express and explain their own viewpoints on both concrete and abstract issues, by giving the pros and cons of various options.

During lessons, we will encourage students to try to improve both their fluency and accuracy in English.

By the end of the course students will be able to:

  • Have the ability to hold a longer conversation and perform a range of more complex functions such as speculating, giving detailed advice, and explaining problems in detail
  • Develop writing skill by texts, broadly structured according to genre conventions
  • Conduct master reading using strategies such as prediction, skimming and scanning to deal quickly with longer texts
  • Produce texts which are broadly structured according to genre conventions, with a good attempt made at logical paragraphing and a smooth flow of ideas
