A 1-hour, play-based reading and phonics program designed to give children the best start in literacy. Delivered by qualified SCOTS teachers in partnership with your childcare or preschool.

What Children Learn
Through stories, songs, and playful activities, children build:
- Awareness of sounds (phonemic awareness)
- Recognition of long and short vowels
- Rhyme and rhythm in spoken English
- Early blending and segmenting skills
- A love for books and story time

Nursery (2 years old)
Pre-school (3 years old)
Phonological Awareness
Phonological awareness is a child’s ability to hear and play with the sounds in spoken words. It’s the first step to cracking the alphabetic code, making it easier for children to link letters to sounds. Strong phonological awareness builds reading fluency, spelling, and confidence at school. Without it, children often struggle to become fluent readers later on.
